Taylor Fritz has received some backlash following his comments about Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic’s scheduling.
Fritz is gearing up for his return to Indian Wells, where he won the title in 2021, but he has also been speaking to some of his fans in a recent Twitch stream.
The former US Open finalist was asked a variety of questions in this stream, including about how players get scheduled at tennis tournaments.
In his response, Fritz suggested that the likes of Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic receive preferential treatment.
“It’s the priority matches, so at the end of the day if Carlos, Jannik, and Novak are playing they are going to get the time slots that they want to get,” said Fritz.
“But also you’re separated in the draw, so at the same time, Carlos and Jannik are going to be split, so on one day, Carlos is going to get his pick, on this next day Jannik will get his.”
Fritz has received some backlash for these comments, to which he has now responded on social media.

Taylor Fritz hits back at tennis fan following his comments about Novak Djokovic
Following his recent comments, Fritz was called to explain himself on social media, particularly relating to Djokovic.
Many would have ignored this, but Fritz was not willing to take any backlash lying down and hit back on social media, claiming that he was not complaining and clearly just explaining how scheduling works.
Fritz wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “You dumb? How can anyone watch this and think I’m complaining? I’m answering a question about the scheduling, priority players have earned the right to request and most of the time play in the slots they want, that’s how it is and nothing is wrong with that.”
What is preventing Taylor Fritz from winning a Grand Slam?
He added, “I’m not sure why you are acting like I am complaining about this? I got asked about how this stuff works by a fan on my stream and answered accordingly.
“The better and more decorated players will usually have more say in when they play, as they should, they have earned that right.
“Me getting on stream and thoughtfully answering questions for fans isn’t something I am doing for me, but for the fans that support me enough to want to come in and ask me questions live. If people want to misinterpret and turn the things I say against me and turn it into unwarranted hate towards me then maybe it’s not worth it.”

How many times was Taylor Fritz scheduled on Rod Laver Arena at the 2026 Australian Open?
The only tournament that Fritz has played alongside Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic so far this year is the Australian Open.
In his four matches at the Australian Open this year, Fritz played just one on the centre court of the Rod Laver Arena.
This was for his fourth round defeat against Lorenzo Musetti, when Sinner was actually demoted down the Margaret Court Arena, which is the second biggest court at Melbourne Park.
Both Alcaraz and Djokovic played all of their matches at this year’s Australian Open on the Rod Laver Arena, with the latter playing one less due to the withdrawal of Jakub Mensik in the fourth round.
| Australian Open 2026 | How many times were they scheduled on Rod Laver Arena? |
| Carlos Alcaraz | 7/7 (100%) |
| Jannik Sinner | 5/6 (83.3%) |
| Novak Djokovic | 6/6 (100%) |
| Taylor Fritz | 1/4 (25%) |
The next time where Fritz’s scheduling theory will be put to the test is at Indian Wells, where the main draw gets underway on Wednesday, March 4.
Fritz will learn his draw for the first ATP 1000 tournament of the year on Monday, March 2.
