Taylor Fritz has received a huge boost before beginning his Paris Masters campaign.

The American is preparing to play his first match since losing his Shanghai Masters semi-final to Novak Djokovic on October 12.

The World number seven is preparing to take to the court in Bercy to commence the final Masters 1000 event of the season.

But before even hitting a ball, he now knows that his season is set to continue beyond competing in the French capital.

What did Andrey Rublev’s loss mean for Taylor Fritz?

Taylor Fritz entered the Paris Masters on the cusp of qualifying for the ATP Finals.

But it has been confirmed that the 26-year-old will be at the season-ending championships after Andrey Rublev lost to Francisco Cerundolo.

The Argentine claimed a tight 7-6(6), 7-6(4) victory in the opening round over Rublev, who is directly behind Fritz in the ATP singles rankings and the ‘Race to Turin’.

The defeat means the 2024 US Open runner-up has qualified for the ATP Finals for the second time in three seasons and has been rewarded for his consistency this season.

How did Taylor Fritz do in his last ATP Finals appearance?

Fritz played at the ATP Finals for the first time back in 2022. He was an alternate after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to injury.

During that season he claimed his first and so far only Masters 1000 title and reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time.

He defeated Rafael Nadal in his debut match and overcame Felix Auger-Aliassime in three sets to progress to the semi-finals.

He contested a tight match against Djokovic and the Serbian needed two tiebreaks to book his spot in the final, which he went on to win.
