Taylor Fritz shares his honest opinion on his US compatriot Danielle Collins.
The WTA Tour’s World number 11 is one of the most outspoken players on the circuit and is one of the more fiery and intense players on court.
She became one of the most talked-about tennis players in 2024, given her decision to retire at the end of the season which has now been reversed.
Danielle Collins also went on a 15-match wins streak that saw her win the Miami and Charleston Open titles, which proved just what she is capable of when she is at her best.
Tennis fans have plenty to say about Collins, and now Taylor Fritz has described his relationship with his USA teammate.
What does Taylor Fritz think of Danielle Collins?
In 2024 Fritz and Collins represented the Untied States at the Olympic Games before playing for their country at the United Cup to start the 2025 season.
Fritz played a key role in USA’s victory, including winning the final match against Poland to seal the victory.
Now at the Australian Open, the 2024 US Open runner-up looked back on her time at the United Cup and gave his honest opinion on Collins.
“I mean, she was a great teammate. On the bench she was cheering super loud for all of us,” Fritz told reporters. “We didn’t see a lot of her, because after a couple days after she got there, she got really sick, actually.
“We told her we don’t want to get sick. We also don’t want to force yourself to be around us, because it’s a team event. She didn’t good.
“When she did feel better at the end of the week, she was a great teammate on the bench, just cheering for everyone and being very, like, positive.
“We all know of each other just being around. Yeah, I mean, I previously, just from knowing her, I had never actually had any bad things to say about Danielle. I’ve always had pleasant, I guess, experiences.”

Taylor Fritz and Danielle Collins reach Australian Open third round
Fritz and Collins continue their quest for a first Grand Slam title by reaching round three of the Australian Open.
Fritz wasted little time defeating Cristian Garín 6-2 6-1, 6-0 to move into round three where he will face the evergreen Gael Monfils.
The Frenchman is currently on an eight-match win streak after lifting the ASB Classic title before arriving in Melbourne.
The pair’s only previous meeting came at the Australian Open in 2019, which Fritz won in four sets.
Collins was pushed to three sets but ultimately claimed a 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 over home favourite Destanee Aiava, and was given a a hard time by the crowd following her post-match gestures towards them. The 10th seed will play fellow American Madison Keys in round three on Saturday.
