Amanda Anisimova enjoyed a stunning season on the WTA Tour, and has just earned its Most Improved Player award.

Anisimova loved her 2025 season, during which she won the first two WTA 1000 titles of her career at Doha and Beijing.

The American ace was among the standout players on the WTA Tour in 2025, finishing the year fourth in the world rankings.

Anisimova also narrowly missed out on a maiden Grand Slam title, losing in the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open.

Steve Johnson backs Amanda Anisimova to win a Grand Slam in 2026

Her efforts have caught the eye of Steve Johnson, who was among the former players naming their WTA MVPs for 2025 from players who didn’t win a Grand Slam.

He said on the Nothing Major Show: “Amanda Anisimova. Two Slam finals, two 1000 titles, she went from 36 to four. It was amazing. MVP. I think she will get a Slam in 2026.”

Sharing his choice, Sam Querrey said: “Mirra Andreeva. She is young. I know she missed out on the year-end finals. She is on her way to superstardom, maybe is already a superstar.

“She is so likeable. Smiley. Remember at Wimbledon she went to watch her coach Conchita Martinez play with the legends? She is just the best.”

And John Isner commented: “I am going [Jelena] Ostapenko. She is selling tournament gifts online, I think that is sort of legendary! She’s a bit different in a good way.”

Jack Sock praises Jessica Pegula’s season on the WTA Tour

Jack Sock also shared his take on the matter, saying: “I am going to go with Jessica Pegula. She just low key goes about her business. She flies under the radar and just stays highly ranked.

“She has insane results all year long. She does not seem big into social media doing much, she just goes out there and wins a bunch of matches.”

Pegula claimed three titles on the WTA Tour in 2025, and is one of several American women really impressing right now.

She’s sixth in the world rankings, one spot ahead of Madison Keys, with that duo joined in the top 10 by Anisimova and world number three Coco Gauff.

Keys and Gauff both won Grand Slam titles this season, and there is every chance that more American champions will emerge in 2026.
