Roland Garros has witnessed plenty of controversy as the second week continues, but none more so than in the match between Joao Fonseca and Casper Ruud.
There are calls for electronic line calling (ELC) at Roland Garros after the incident in the fourth round match, which Fonseca won.
Fonseca won a key point in the second set of the clash, which Ruud would have won if ELC was indeed in place at the Grand Slam, with Hawkeye having later revealed that the ball was out.
Roland Garros director Amelie Mauresmo has since defended having no ELC in Paris, arguing that the technology on clay is not 100 per cent reliable.
But Steve Johnson has reacted angrily to the incident, criticizing Roland Garros for what happened during the Ruud versus Fonseca tie.

Steve Johnson criticizes Roland Garros Hawkeye incident
Speaking on the Nothing Major Show, former ATP player Johnson said: “The French Open are still using the lines people.
“They get the call wrong on Fonseca’s forehand on set point in the second. That ball was out, Hawkeye confirms it, but the chair says it’s in and Casper loses the set.
“If that is anyone in the world but Casper Ruud, the nicest man on the planet, things go sideways.
“I am good with the umpires, I have no problem having them, but don’t throw them under the bus and also have Hawkeye show them they are wrong this much.
“If you are going to have umpires, great. Don’t have them show Hawkeye because now Casper knows he won the second set. That hurts!
“Don’t show Hawkeye, you are just doing a disservice to your own umpires and your own credibility when you show different things on the TV to what you are getting on the court in huge moments in the match.”
If you could change one rule in tennis what would it be and why?
Joao Fonseca emulates Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros
It was undoubtedly an unfortunate moment for Ruud, who certainly deserves huge praise for his calm reaction to the incident.
And it was indeed a shame for their blockbuster match to feature such controversy.
But while Ruud will perhaps be contemplating what could have been, Fonseca will have immediately turned his attention to his quarterfinal with Jakub Mensik.
The winner of that clash will meet the winner of Alexander Zverev versus Rafael Jodar, with the Spaniard having just joined Fonseca on an exclusive list before that match.
Both 19 years old, the Brazilian and Jodar became only the fifth teenage pair to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam in the last 42 years.
It is also just the second pairing this century, with Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune having achieved the same feat at 19 at Roland Garros in 2022.
