Stefanos Tsitsipas has rushed to congratulate Novak Djokovic after watching him claim yet another ATP Title, this time in Greece.

It marked the inaugural year of this event, having replaced the Belgrade Open, and was marked as a rather crucial 250-level tournament for a few reasons.

Chief among them was Lorenzo Musetti’s desperate bid to qualify for the ATP Finals, of which he would have by winning the whole thing.

Sadly, Novak Djokovic was just too good once again, on hand to dash those dreams before ironically then handing him exactly what he wanted by pulling out of the major end-of-year event.

Before dropping this bombshell though, he deservedly revelled in his triumph, with Tsitsipas just one of many who have sent praise his way.

Naturally, as a proud compatriot as well as a highly philosophical individual, it was no surprise that Tsitsipas would be so glowing to watch Djokovic put on such a show in his home country.

After all, for many, he is the greatest of all time, and the fact that he is still such a threat on the ATP Tour at 38 years of age is truly exceptional.

Alongside his message to the Serbian, Tsitsipas added a video of him congratulating the 24-time Grand Slam champion, having watched the enthralling final from courtside.

He wrote: “This week, Greece hosted its first ATP event since 1994; the first in my lifetime.

Although I could not compete in it, I enjoyed being courtside for @DjokerNole’s triumph – making him the first tennis player to win a title in 20 different countries.”

Despite beating him in the final and extending his head-to-head record against him to 9-1, Djokovic spoke glowingly about Musetti after his win.

What did Novak Djokovic say after beating Lorenzo Musetti to win the title in Greece?

Djokovic’s on-court interview, as ever, remained humble and entertaining for those watching on.

And, he took particular time out to laud Musetti, despite falling at the final hurdle in his ATP Finals conquest.

The Serbian stated: “I don’t know where to start.

“First of all, out of respect for Lorenzo [Musetti] and his performance today and his performance all week, I want to say a few words.

“I think at this level we all pretty much experience the feeling of playing such a close match and losing. I know it’s a tough feeling to accept right now, but if there is anything to take away, this is your level of tennis; it’s been incredible all week, especially today.

“I’ve played you many times on different surfaces. I hope you don’t mind me saying, you probably play your best tennis on clay courts, but your improvements on hard courts is amazing, keep going, your future is bright.”

He concluded by thanking the Greek crowd and explaining just how much he enjoyed his week.
