Stefanos Tsitsipas was among the players to narrowly miss out on an ATP Finals spot in Turin this week.
Tsitsipas has complained about the two-week Masters 1,000s events, with the Greek ace not happy with the ATP Tour amid the busy schedule.
But he would have undoubtedly liked a place at the ATP Finals, a tournament Tsitsipas won in 2019 with a final win over Dominic Thiem.
Tsitsipas reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters ahead of the season-end event, which wasn’t enough for a place in Turin.
The world number 11 is, however, an alternate for the ATP Finals should he be needed in case of a withdrawal.

He has been using his free time to check in on social media while his girlfriend and WTA star Paula Badosa prepares for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
And after he reacted to footage of her practising, the tournament’s official X account messaged the Greek star, saying: “Come show us your volleys in Malaga, Stef.”

But he was forced to decline the offer, with Tsitsipas replying: “Would love to join, but I’m currently too busy in Turin… waiting… patiently… very patiently… as an alternate.”

Hosts Spain qualified automatically alongside the Czech Republic and 2023 champions and runners-up Canada and Italy respectively.
Joining them are qualification winners Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the USA.
Also taking place in Malaga are the men’s Davis Cup Finals, after which home star Rafael Nadal will retire from tennis.
