The Grand Slams are, by far, the biggest and most important tournaments in tennis.
The Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open are the four pillars of the sport, and each tournament is unique.
All four events differ in crowd, feel, and even court surface, though hard courts feature in both Melbourne and New York.
Every fan, player and pundit has their opinion on which Grand Slam they think is the best, including world number one Carlos Alcaraz, who picked Wimbledon as his favourite.

Recently, Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas weighed in on the debate.

When asked to pick his favourite major in an episode of ‘What’s The Call?‘, Tsitsipas said: “It’s between [the] Australian Open and Roland Garros.
“These two, simply because, well, Australia gets me that home crowd which I don’t get in any other Slam in the world, and then Paris is like my ultimate dream.
“I’ve been practicing on clay courts my entire life, been watching Rafael Nadal destroy the field at the Philippe Chatrier in Roland Garros in multiple instances, and it has always been such a gladiator feeling winning on clay.
“There is also this class in actually winning Wimbledon too, which is amazing, but there’s nothing more satisfying than grinding it out on a five-setter, putting all of your effort, ending the match filthy, dirty, sweaty on a beautiful sunny Parisian day, there’s nothing like it, so I would pick Roland Garros.

“You have something to show. There is proof that you worked out. All the work is engraved on the clay. All the movements, all the slides, all the effort. It almost represents a painting.
“If you look at your side of the court, it’s a painting that you created, with your own footwork [and] effort, and there’s proof. I find this beautiful that it’s sophisticated.”

Some of Tsitsipas’ best Grand Slam results over the years have come on the clay courts of Roland Garros.
Following a fourth-round finish in 2019, Tsitsipas reached the semifinals of the French Open in 2020, beating Grigor Dimitrov and Andrey Rublev en route.
He was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the final four, with the Serb coming out on top in a lengthy five-setter.
In 2020, Tsitsipas made his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros, but fell to Djokovic again in five sets.
Since then, he has recorded two quarterfinal runs at the tournament, which came in 2023 and 2024.
