Itโs quite remarkable how Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have risen from relative unknowns with quietly bright futures into two of tennisโ best players.
Now recognised as the duo set to fill the void left by the Big Threeโs absence, they have already shared some legendary battles, with plenty more sure to come given their respective talents.
With two Grand Slams each throughout 2024, there is immense parity between them at the moment.
However, that could all be settled later today, when they meet in the China Open final.
Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner debate reignited
Speaking on Sky Sports just yesterday, pundit Miles Maclagan sought to weigh into the hottest debate in tennis right now ahead of Jannik Sinnerโs clash with Carlos Alcaraz in the China Open final.
Asked who he thought was better out of the two, the former Andy Murray coach admitted: โYou discuss the differences between him (Alcaraz) and Sinner and you say Sinner may be more consistent across the board, but Alcarazโs best level may be better overall.
โHis athleticism is phenomenal, the attitude is first class and his shot selection is very rarely wrong. You wonder if he is having a bit of fun at times, but you wonder if that is permitted in his game.

โThe best players learn so quickly and maybe there are a couple of days when Alcaraz is off, but he is getting better at that now.
โWe are talking at the very highest level and on the back of the incredible summer he had as a Roland Garros winner and then defending his Wimbledon title, through time he is becoming accustomed to competing at the very, very, very highest level.โ
Previewing the China Open final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
Well, today will once again see two of tennisโ best and brightest young talents take to the court, for the second time this year and the ninth time in their careers.
Whenever they do battle, people clamour to watch the spectacle, with such intrigue having only increased as the two have grown into some of the best players in the world.
Sinner boasts otherworldly ball striking, and from the back of the court there are few as relentless and ruthless as he is.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz is a bag of tricks, and whilst he too has the ability to trade hammer blows from deep, his ability to mix it up is what helped him win their last two meetings.
Boasting a slender 5-4 positive record, the Spaniard will feel confident as he heads into his first-ever ATP final in Asia, yet Sinner has already revealed what he is expecting from Alcaraz in the China Open final later today.
This should mark the first time this season that both players are fully fit going into a clash between one another.
