Frances Tiafoe is out of Wimbledon in just the second round, as yet another victim of Britain’s remarkable run at the event.

A record number made it through the first round, and he joined Sonay Kartal as yet another hometown hero to thrive in front of a raucous crowd.

This was especially amplified given the 29-year-old featured on Court One, his self-proclaimed favourite.

Using that to his advantage, Frances Tiafoe has admitted that the former Wimbledon semi-finalist kept doing something throughout the match that got under his skin.

Frances Tiafoe reacts to losing to Cam Norrie at Wimbledon

Tiafoe was not pleased with the manner of his defeat, but took time to praise the Wimbledon atmosphere.

However, what he took issue with was Norrie’s reaction to it, stating: ’It [the crowd] didn’t bother me. He was super amped, he was saying Come on from the first game, which was definitely annoying. That probably bothered me more than the crowd.

‘The biggest thing was that he kept going and played better because of the crowd. I don’t think he probably plays as well if the crowd wasn’t so far behind him. They really pushed him and he started believing.

Then speaking about Norrie’s serving, he continued: ‘I don’t think he has served that well in a really long time. He was serving at 75, something stupid per cent. I hardly got a look at the second serve.

‘I was trying to move around a little bit but I was shocked at how well he served today. I have never seen him serve like that.’

It seems like his frustration during the match did not wane in the time between its conclusion and his press conference…

Cam Norrie has a wide-open Wimbledon draw

As Norrie became yet another player to take out a seed, admittedly, the entire men’s draw is now wide open.

However, particularly in his section, there is a huge opportunity for an unlikely star to make a name for themselves and reach the quarter-finals.

After all, Holger Rune, Jiri Lehecka and Norrie’s American opponent are now all out, making Tiafoe’s Wimbledon prediction look somewhat foolish.

This will arguably be his best chance to replicate that fairytale run from 2022, with things falling into place for him and his country as a whole.

Jack Draper is not alone in the British conquest for the Wimbledon title, it seems.
