Grigor Dimitrov yesterday ended his long wait to win a title and he’s received congratulatory messages from a star-studded cast.
The messages were posted to the Bulgarian on Instagram after his win against Holger Rune in the final of the Brisbane Open.
So, what did Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters and Bear Grylls have to say to Dimitrov? We’ve taken a closer look…
Serena Williams congratulates Grigor Dimitrov after Brisbane Open win
Dimitrov won his first title since 2017 by beating his Danish opponent 7-5, 6-4 and he will now head to the Australian Open in confident spirits.

The world number 14 only dropped a single set in the whole tournament and that came in his first-round match against Andy Murray.
Dimitrov’s last title came over 2200 days ago when he beat David Goffin in London to claim success in the ATP Tour Finals.
After yesterday’s victory, he took to Instagram to speak of his pride at being back in the winner’s circle and received praise from Williams, Clijsters and, perhaps randomly, Bear Grylls!
The younger of the two Williams sisters posted first and she said: “Yesssssss Bro!!!”, also placing three applause emojis alongside her post.
Next up was Clijsters and she said in classy fashion: “So happy for you Grigor!”
Finally, perhaps the most surprising message came from Grylls who said: “Legend and fighter.”
Dimitrov confidence will be sky-high going into Australian Open
At 32-years-old, the Bulgarian star is still waiting to lay his hands on a maiden grand slam title.
The million-dollar question is whether or not, he can end that elusive wait next week when the first major of the season gets underway.
Dimitrov has reached the semi-final in Melbourne in 2017 but his record in recent years has been pretty drab.
He’s made it beyond the third round just twice since 2019 and he will want to go deep when the 2024 edition starts.
At his very best, Dimitrov is a top competitor but he will now hope to show his true ability when it comes to the big tournaments.
Dimitrov seems to enjoy playing on a hard surface and he will hope that can put him in good shape at the Australian Open this time around.
The win in Brisbane will certainly do a lot for his confidence.
