Jannik Sinner continues to impress in New York, as he looks to defend his US Open title.

The Italian star beat Vit Kopriva, Alexei Popyrin, Denis Shapovalov, and Alexander Bublik en route to the US Open quarterfinals.

There, Sinner met his countryman, Lorenzo Musetti, who had been equally impressive in his first four matches.

Unfortunately for Musetti, he lost to Sinner in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6, 2-6, as the world number one advanced to his fourth Grand Slam semifinal of the year.

With Sinner just two wins away from winning another major title, Serena Williams’ former coach has made a bold prediction about his future.

Rick Macci predicts how many Grand Slams Jannik Sinner will have won by the end of 2027

Heading over to X, Williams’ former coach, Rick Macci, predicted how many Grand Slam titles Sinner will win in the next two years.

“[Jannik] Sinner off both wings with blistering firepower and controlled quality is the best the game has ever seen,” he said.

“He is taking away your reaction time almost every point and then mentally, he seldom blinks.

“Barring injury, double-digit Slams by year-end 2027.”

Sinner is currently a four-time Grand Slam champion, winning the Australian Open title in 2024 and 2025, the US Open title in 2024, and Wimbledon in 2025.

Macci is backing Sinner to win at least six of the next nine Grand Slams before the end of the 2027 season.

For context, the last player to win six out of nine Slams was Novak Djokovic, who racked up the titles between 2014 and 2016.

It’s by no means impossible, but Sinner will need to maintain his remarkable level throughout the next two years if he wants to make Macci’s prediction come true.

Macci is confident Sinner will continue to perform, as he suggested there could yet be improvements to come from the Italian.

“Sinner is a silent assassin with a racquet in his hand,” he said.

“Cool, calm, collected, and has been collecting Grand Slams like we have not seen.

“Scariest of all, he can improve a lot more with his little motor skills to handle the racquet like an Italian painter and his brush.”

Sinner would surely love to reach ten Grand Slams by the end of 2027, but won’t want to get too far ahead of himself, as there is still work to be done in New York.

Jannik Sinner prepares for Felix Auger-Aliassime test at the US Open

Next up for Sinner is Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has been playing some of the best tennis of his career at the 2025 US Open.

Playing with a lot of confidence, the 25-year-old could cause some real problems for Sinner in the semifinals.

He also leads the head-to-head with Sinner 2-1, although it should be noted that Auger-Aliassime hasn’t beaten the Italian in three years.

It was Sinner who emerged victorious in their most recent meeting, dropping just two games at the Cincinnati Open last month.

Whether Sinner can replicate that performance in New York remains to be seen, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.

Sinner and Auger-Aliassime will face off for a place in the US Open final on Friday, September 5.
