Serena Williams’ former coach made a bold prediction regarding Jack Draper.
The British number one is on the cusp of the top five and he is two matches away from becoming the Madrid Open champion after he dispatched Tommy Paul 6-2, 6-2 in the Spanish capital.
2025 marks the first year with the 23-year-old’s improved fitness and it has paid dividends on court.
British tennis has a lot to be excited about with Jack Draper, and one of the game’s best coaches has high hopes for him.

Serena Williams’ former coach thinks Jack Draper will win a Grand Slam
Draper has shown what he is capable of over the past year.
He has three ATP Tour titles to his name and Draper reached his first Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open in September 2024.
Draper is now a top 10 player and is at a career-high ranking of number six, and he has sights set on going even higher.
As he continues to evolve as a player and improve his game, Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci thinks Draper can go all the way and win a major.
“Draper can order a lot of free lunches on his nasty lefty serve,” the 70-year-old posted on social media platform X.
“He shows wicked athletic ability around the court and can stop/pop and darts to the net and delivers a delicate short angled Drop. The British Bomber will be a Grand Slam Champion.”

Jack Draper can become a top five player at the Madrid Open
Draper is at a career high ranking of number six but he has a chance to climb to number five at the ongoing Madrid Open.
He produced his best performance of the tournament on Wednesday when he dispatched Paul in straight sets to reach the semifinals.
In his next match, Draper will take on Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi, who knocked out Novak Djokovic earlier in the tournament.
Should Draper defeat Arnaldi, he will leapfrog Djokovic and become the new World number five when the rankings are released on Monday.
