The iconic Serena Williams has now confirmed whether or not she’s considering a tennis comeback.
Williams hasn’t played since calling time on her stunning career in September 2022.
The 42-year-old did get the tongues wagging earlier this month however, with a cryptic message on social media.
She said that she was ready to hit some balls again and some supporters weren’t sure what exactly that implied.
Now, she’s been quizzed on that post and has shared what she meant by the suggestion of being ready to start playing again.

The player who won 73 career titles including 23 Grand Slam crowns has moved quickly to dismiss any notion of a return.
In an interview with the New York Times, she’s now cleared up exactly what she meant by the post she made on social media.
Williams said: “It wasn’t cryptic. I literally am ready to hit balls. I haven’t hit in a long time. It’s my life, and I love it and I miss it so much.
“I did learn that I shouldn’t have posted it on Twitter, because people think I’m coming back, and I’m like, ‘No.’
Williams is the greatest female player of all time
This goes without saying but Williams took tennis to a completely new level when she was in her prime.
The 2012 Olympic gold medalist won every Grand Slam more than once playing in both singles and doubles competitions.
It’s quite remarkable what she achieved during her career and it’s perhaps a shame that a comeback isn’t on the cards!
Williams still has a lot to offer tennis in some capacity but right now she’s playing parent after welcoming children into the world.
Hopefully, there is a role for Williams somewhere whether it be on the coaching side or in the media in the future.
Being on the tennis court in a competitive capacity looks like a thing of the past for Williams though and she’s now quashed any notion of a comeback.
