Mirra Andreeva is not one of the top three favourites for the Wimbledon title according to Rennae Stubbs.
Andreeva became a Grand Slam champion for the first time earlier this month after winning the Roland Garros title.
As a result, there is now a lot more attention on Andreeva, as she looks to go back-to-back at Wimbledon this year.
While Andreeva is arguably the most in-form player on the WTA Tour right now, Stubbs, who has been coaching Serena Williams for her comeback, does not have her as one of the big favourites for the Wimbledon title.

Rennae Stubbs names her top three Wimbledon contenders ahead of Mirra Andreeva
When looking ahead to Wimbledon this year in the latest edition of ‘The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast‘, the six-time Grand Slam doubles champion was asked if Andreeva is in her top three favourites to win the title.
Stubbs claimed that Andreeva was in her top five, but backed Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula ahead of her.
How many Grand Slams titles does Mirra Andreeva have at the same age Aryna Sabalenka is now (28)?
“Well, I think she’s top five. I don’t know if she’s top three,” Stubbs said about Andreeva. “I think I would put even Pegula ahead of her, just on grass.
“But, you know, the thing with Mirra is that she’s very tricky, and she knows how to manoeuvre her racket face on any surface. And by that, I mean, she’s able to adapt on the court surface that she’s playing on.
“She has a great serve, first and second serve. She can hit the spots and on grass, you have to serve well, because if you don’t, you’re gonna get crushed. People will take advantage of a s—– second serve, especially the Sabalenka’s, the Rybakina’s, even the Pegula’s, people that hit the ball big.
“So I think, look, she has beautiful hands, she’s a great volleyer when she comes into the net. She knows how to move forward. So, you know, as far as if she plays at her best, could she win Wimbledon? Absolutely. Because I would have said the same thing about her winning the French.
“So there’s no way I’m going to discount her on any surface and depending on who’s still at the pointy end of a tournament, Mirra Andreeva now is a Grand Slam champion, knows that she can do it.
“So, I mean, top three, I’m not sure, because I put Sabalenka, Rybakina and I would even put Pegula in front of her.
“Well, and Iga [Swiatek], you know, no one’s talking about her, but she’s not even playing. I don’t put Iga inside the top three. She’s got a tonne of points to defend, so we’ll see.”
Mirra Andreeva’s previous results at Wimbledon
Despite still only being 19 years old, Andreeva will be making her fourth main draw appearance at Wimbledon this year.
Andreeva has a 73% win-loss record at Wimbledon, and last year achieved her best result at the grass court major by reaching the quarter-finals.
| Year | Mirra Andreeva’s result at Wimbledon |
| 2023 | Fourth Round – Lost to Madison Keys |
| 2024 | First Round – Lost to Brenda Fruhvirtova |
| 2025 | Quarter-final – Lost to Belinda Bencic |
The 19-year-old has not played a grass court match so far this year, but Andreeva is scheduled to play at the Bad Homburg Open next week to prepare for Wimbledon.
Andreeva will be the fifth seed at Wimbledon this year, backing up Stubbs’ point that she is one of the top five favourites for the grass court major.
The main draw of Wimbledon will get underway on Monday, June 29.
