The 2025 Miami Open is well underway as the stars of the WTA Tour battle it out for the trophy.
Traveling to Florida, the very best in women’s tennis are hoping to win the Miami Open title.
The event in Miami is the fourth WTA 1000 event of 2025, following thrilling tournaments in Dubai, Qatar, and Indian Wells.

Amanda Anisimova won the Qatar Open before Mirra Andreeva won the next two available WTA 1000 titles at the Dubai Tennis Championships and Indian Wells.
As the third round kicks off, two former American ATP stars predict who they think can win the 2025 Miami Open.
Sam Querrey says Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, and Mirra Andreeva can all win in Miami
Speaking on their Nothing Major podcast, Sam Querrey and Jack Sock discussed the potential winners in Florida.
“There is only four [who can win],” said Querrey.
“Andreeva, [Iga] Swiatek, [Aryna] Sabalenka and [Madison] Keys.
“One of those four, I bet you anything, wins the tournament.”

Sock disagreed as he named a different player he thinks has as good a chance as anyone to come away with the trophy.
“I will take the field,” he said.
“I am going with any seed that is in the draw, [Amanda] Anisimova could win it.
“Anybody could win it.
“I just think the field, it’s going to be chaos man.”

Querrey then re-iterated his point, suggesting that there has been a shift in women’s tennis over the years.
“I feel like 20 years ago on the women’s side you could go 20 people could win it and the men’s three,” he said.
“It has kind of flipped a little bit now.”
All five players won their openers in Miami, and they now get set for their third-round matches on Saturday and Sunday.
- [1] Aryna Sabalenka beat Viktoriya Tomova – 6-3, 6-0
- [2] Iga Swiatek beat Caroline Garcia – 6-2, 7-5
- [5] Madison Keys beat Elina Avanesyan – 6-3, 6-3
- [11] Mirra Andreeva beat Veronika Kudermetova – 6-0, 6-2
- [17] Amanda Anisimova beat Mayar Sherif – 6-2, 6-2
Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, and Mirra Andreeva have been the best four WTA players in 2025
No players have accumulated more points on the WTA Tour in 2025 than the quartet of Sabalenka, Swiatek, Keys, and Andreeva.
As the only players to have surpassed the 2,000-point mark this year, you would be brave to bet against them in Miami.

Madison Keys’ victories at the Australian Open and Adelaide International see her way out in front with 3,009 points.
The American’s decision to skip the ‘Middle-Eastern swing’ doesn’t look to have had any negative effects either, as Keys returned to action with a strong run to the semi-finals in Indian Wells earlier this month.
Top ten stars Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, and Qinwen Zheng have all struggled for form this year, and have perhaps understandably been overlooked as title favorites at the Miami Open.
- Coco Gauff (WTA #3) – 12th in WTA race
- Jasmine Paolini (WTA #7) – 23rd in WTA race
- Qinwen Zheng (WTA #9) – 49th in WTA race

It remains to be seen if they can work themselves into contention with a strong performance in the Sunshine State.
The third round of the 2025 Miami Open continues on Saturday, March 22, and concludes on Sunday, March 23.
