It won’t be long before the French Open is upon us and the professional stars are competing for the second Grand Slam of 2025.
Last year, it was Carlos Alcaraz who emerged victorious from the Roland Garros event, winning the clay-court Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
This year, the competition will be fierce with Jannik Sinner looking to win another major after serving a three-month suspension from the game.
There will be other players in the mix to win the title too and before the French Open, we get to see how the players are shaping up at three big ATP Masters 1000 events.
It will be fascinating to see what happens in this year’s clay-court showpiece in Paris and pundits have started to make their predictions.

Sam Querrey delivers shock French Open prediction
The American player never really enjoyed playing on the clay, certainly at the French Open.
Querrey never progressed beyond the third round of the Roland Garros event and his game was much better suited to the grass courts of Wimbledon.
Ahead of the French Open, Querrey has chosen his winner for the French Open this year, with John Isner and Jack Sock also making their picks.
Isner went for Alexander Zverev to get his maiden title, whilst Sock went for the popular pick and backed Alcaraz to defend his title.
Querrey, however, went for Casper Ruud in a pick that can only be considered as firmly left-field, with the Danish player yet to win a Grand Slam event.
Casper Ruud does have form at the French Open
Clearly, Querrey has a bit of a gut feeling about Ruud but it does feel like a long shot.
Ruud has reached two finals at Roland Garros but as the world number seven not many will be predicting him to go all the way in Paris this year.
He reached the final in 2022 and 2023, losing to Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic and if he reaches another final, perhaps the odds will be stacked better in his favour.
Ruud has had a pretty mediocre start to 2025 and although he reached the final in Dallas, he’s not been beyond the round of 16 at any other tournament.
He was miserably dumped out of the Australian Open in the second round and it would be a major surprise if Querrey’s prediction comes to fruition.
