Amanda Anisimova experienced a superb season on the WTA Tour in 2025, and will be eager to continue her momentum into 2026.

Among her achievements were two Grand Slam finals, with Anisimova reaching the last two at Wimbledon and the US Open.

She did, however, fall agonizingly short on both occasions, losing to Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka respectively.

But the American WTA superstar did manage to achieve success elsewhere, lifting the trophies in Beijing and Doha.

Paul Annacone backs Amanda Anisimova for 2026 Grand Slam success

Anisimova’s chances of Grand Slam glory have now been discussed by Roger Federer’s former coach Paul Annacone ahead of the new season.

He was asked by Tennis Channel who he thinks is more likely to win a Grand Slam in 2026 between Anisimova and Elena Rybakina, and replied: “I have loved what we’ve seen from Amanda Anisimova.

“I think she is knocking on the door, and she is my vote for a major victory next year.”

Should women play best-of-five sets at Grand Slams?

Coco Vandeweghe thinks Amanda Anisimova is heading for a Grand Slam title

Former player Coco Vandeweghe was also asked the question, with the two players currently neck and neck in the world rankings.

Anisimova currently occupies fourth place, with WTA Finals champion Elena Rybakina right behind her in fifth.

Vandeweghe said: “I would love to say both, but if I had to choose one I would go with a first Slam for Amanda Anisimova, which would be an amazing story.

“Anisimova finished at number 359 in the WTA rankings at the end of 2023. Two years later, she finishes at number four with back-to-back Grand Slam final finishes.

“But both women definitely have it in them to do next year.”

While Anisimova is still chasing a maiden Grand Slam title, Rybakina emerged victorious at Wimbledon in 2022.

She defeated Ons Jabeur in the final at the All England Club, before losing the 2023 US Open final to Aryna Sabalenka.
