Roger Federer may have retired back in 2022, but the tennis legend remains at the very top of one important list.
The Swiss icon does sit third in the all-time men’s Grand Slam titles leaderboard, with his 20 titles behind the 24 of Novak Djokovic and the 22 of Rafael Nadal.
But when it comes to Wimbledon, it is Federer who sits top of the pile in the Open Era, having won the iconic competition a stunning eight times.
It was undoubtedly his most successful major, with the Swiss also enjoying fantastic success at the Australian Open and the US Open.
Six titles were secured at the former, with five coming at the latter, with Federer also winning the French Open once to complete the set.

He will forever remain one of the legends of the sport, with fans everywhere eager to know exactly what the Swiss does now that he has put down his racket.
And he has now provided those fans with an update, both in terms of his lasting love for tennis and his plans for the upcoming major in London.
“I’m missing tennis, of course I am,” Federer said on Instagram live when asked if he misses the sport. “But I’m still playing sometimes.
“Not on a centre court, but I follow it a lot, I miss it, that’s why I sometimes come back to the games, see my friends and my extended tennis family.”
And when asked if he will go to Wimbledon, Federer replied: “I’m making plans. The kids are pushing me again. I’m happy at home, but the kids said ‘no, we want to go to Wimbledon this year, you went without us last year,’ so then we go to Wimbledon.
“So most likely I’ll be there, I don’t know if I’m going to watch any matches, but I’ll be in the Wimbledon village, so try to spot me there.”
Can Novak Djokovic reach Roger Federer’s Wimbledon heights?
As mentioned, Federer stands alone in terms of Wimbledon titles with eight, but hot on his heels is Novak Djokovic.
Like the Serb, Pete Sampras tasted success seven times at the grass competition, but importantly the former is still going on the court.
Djokovic and Federer played out a fierce rivalry over the years, with the duo constantly going head to head across all of the major competitions, with both enjoying success and suffering failure.
That rivalry came to light during the French Open thanks to Djokovic’s injury struggles, with tennis fans not happy with Federer after old comments re-emerged regarding his thoughts on the Serb’s struggles on the court.
But Djokovic was heavily impacted by injury in Paris, with the 24-time Grand Slam winner forced to retire at Roland Garros.
Knee surgery followed which has thrown his presence at Wimbledon into doubt, with Djokovic’s doctor confirming that the star will not be 100% fit for the tournament.
