Rafael Nadal will make an appearance at the Laver Cup and after making the announcement, Roger Federer has reacted on Instagram.

The Spaniard is coming towards the end of his career.

At 37-years-old and more injuries than he will care to remember, the curtain is starting to come down for Nadal.

Nadal is currently edging towards fitness and he did get the chance to play at the recent Barcelona Open.

Having won the French Open 14 times, he will surely want to be fresh and as fit as possible for that one in a couple of months.

Now, Federer has reacted to the news that Nadal has put his name forward to play in the Laver Cup.

Roger Federer reacts to Rafael Nadal confirming Laver Cup place

The Laver Cup is a three-day tournament where six players from Europe take on six players from the rest of the world.

Nadal last played at the competition in 2022 – and actually played alongside Federer in what proved to be his last match.

Now, he’s thrown his name forward again and Federer has taken to Instagram to react to the news.

He posted a two-word message that simply says ‘Vamos, Rafa’, and clearly he’s rooting for him.

The key for Nadal is to keep himself fit ahead of the tournament and after the French Open and Wimbledon, he may well go into hibernation, so to speak!

Rafa Nadal record at the Laver Cup

Well, we can hear you asking at the back – what is Nadal’s record like at the Laver Cup and we can tell you, it’s not bad at all.

He’s made three appearances in the tournament in 2017, 2019 and 2022 – when the tournament was held in London.

In total, Nadal has won six points for Team Europe, from seven matches that he’s actually played.

Playing in singles matches, he’s won twice and lost once, collecting four points for his efforts.

His other points have come in doubles matches and the hope will be that his experience can help the Europeans to succeed at the end of the year.

Indeed, it feels like Federer will be rooting for him at the tournament.
