Rennae Stubbs recalled the time she received a strong warning from Serena Williams.
The American played tennis from 1992 to 2011 and during that time established herself as a fine doubles player, winning six Grand Slams.
She was one of those who had the opportunity to watch Williams at her peak as she dominated the WTA Tour.
But during her career the 53-year-old made the mistake of telling the 23-time Grand Slam champion something she really did not want to hear.
Rennae Stubbs given stern warning by Serena Williams at Wimbledon
During the latest episode of The French Connection Podcast on NBC Sports, Stubbs brought up whether players like to know their draw ahead of a tournament or not.
She claimed the likes of American number two Jessica Pegula have no issue looking at the whole draw before their campaign begins.
But Williams on the other hand, prefers not to know and after Stubbs once mentioned who she would play at Wimbledon, and the former World number one was not happy.
“I was a player who did not want to see any parts of the draw at a Grand Slam,” Stubbs shared. “Some people don’t really care, Jessica Pegula, I have asked her and she is like I don’t care, I look at the whole draw.
“Whereas Serena, if you told her who she was playing too early in a tournament she would never talk to you again. I made that mistake one time, I told her who she was playing at Wimbledon.
“I was saying you play so and so. It was maybe Thursday before the tournament before the draw came out. She won the match and she was like, by the way, don’t you ever tell me who I’m playing in the first round too early.”

How many Wimbledon titles has Serena Williams won?
From the 23 major singles titles that Wiliams claimed throughout her illustrious career, seven came at Wimbledon.
Her first trophies came following back-to-back titles at the All-England Club in 2002 and 2003, and she did not taste glory again until two more championships followed in 2009 and 2010.
Williams recorded her fifth win at SW19 in 2012, before winning consecutive titles once again in 2015 and 2016.
Serena went on to win six more titles alongside sister Venus in the doubles competition, and she also won the mixed doubles event with Belarus’ Max Mirnyi in 1998.
