Rennae Stubbs has a ‘weird feeling’ she knows which man is going to win Wimbledon this year

Rennae Stubbs has made some early predictions on who she thinks will win Wimbledon.

In less than a month all eyes will turn to South West London where tennis’ most prestigious tournament will take place once again.

The hallowed turf is currently being prepared for the world’s best players to do battle for the sport’s most coveted prize.

With several weeks to go before the tournament begins, Stubbs has already attempted to guess who will emerge victorious, just days after the French Open came to an end.

Who does Rennae Stubbs think will win Wimbledon?

The transition from the slow, high-bouncing and more physically taxing clay courts to the lower bouncing, faster and slicker grass courts is arguably the toughest for tennis players to make.

Furthermore, players whose games are perhaps more suited to the clay may struggle once they arrive at Wimbledon.

Therefore it can be difficult to gauge who will triumph at the All-England Club, especially with the grass court season only just commencing.

But due to their familiarity on the grass and ability to win the tournament, Stubbs has gone for both Elena Rybakina and Carlos Alcaraz to triumph at Wimbledon for the second time.

“I’m going for Rybakina,” she told the French Connection Podcast. “I think that she is sort of struggling a bit this year with injuries, with sickness but as far as comfortability on grass and the big serve if she’s healthy I feel like Rybakina is the player to beat on grass.

“On the men’s side, I get these weird feelings and I think Carlos [Alcaraz] is going to win Wimbledon again.”

Who are the reigning Wimbledon champions?

In 2023, Carlos Alcaraz secured the most surprising and monumental victory of his career so far.

With little grass court experience, the Spaniard ended Novak Djokovic’s 10-year unbeaten run on centre court by edging the final in five sets to triumph at SW19. This came after he won Queen’s in the run-up to Wimbledon.

There was also a surprise on the women’s side of the draw Marketa Vondrousova defeated Ons Jabeur in the final to win the grass court major, which is the only title she has won in her career so far.

The Czech star defeated the likes of Jessica Pegula and Elina Svitolina on the way to the championship, which she won in straight sets.
