Rafael Nadal is currently taking part in one of the final tournaments of his career before retirement at the Six Kings Slam.
Nadal lost his semi-final match with Carlos Alcaraz, but will remain in Saudi Arabia for a third-place playoff.
He will meet fellow veteran Novak Djokovic in Riyadh, with Alcaraz set to take on Jannik Sinner in the Six Kings Slam final.
Chris Evert says Nadal’s retirement will leave a gaping hole in tennis, with the Spaniard set to hang up his racket after the Davis Cup Finals.
He will play alongside Alcaraz for Spain in Malaga next month, before finally calling time on his legendary career.

Rafael Nadal shares his hope for Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
The Six Kings Slam has perfectly represented the changing of the guard, with Djokovic and Nadal meeting before Alcaraz takes on Sinner.
And the presence of the younger pair is very pleasing to Nadal, who said in his latest Six Kings Slam press conference: “I think tennis is in good hands. Jannik and Carlos have an amazing present but they are going to have a great future in front.

“Hopefully they can stay away from injury. That is going to create a great rivalry between them and for the moment it seems like these guys are over the others and capacity and being focused all the time.
“Let’s see how the other players evolve over the next couple of years because it’s difficult to be on the top all the time and, of course, some new kids are going to come and be at a very high level and create some more rivals to them. Let’s see, I am going to enjoy tennis from a different perspective.”
Who will challenge Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in the near future?
Nadal will undoubtedly miss tennis, having given so much of his life to the sport, with so much success going his way.
At the same time, however, the Spanish icon will definitely enjoy retirement as he steps away from the physical and emotional toil of the sport.
And fortunately he leaves tennis in great hands, with his compatriot Alcaraz and world number one Sinner right at the very top of their games.
Aged just 21 and 23 respectively, the pair have dominated 2024, with the pair sharing the Grand Slam honours between them.
It is a hugely exciting rivalry that is only going to get better as the years go on, with tennis perhaps simply waiting for the next star player to knock them off their perch.
The likes of Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev will continue to push the star duo all the way, while 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic will also be doing his utmost to remain in the conversation.
