Alexander Zverev has shared the painful injury that he’s having to contend with after stunning Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open.
The German player has been speaking to Eurosport.

Not too many people saw this result coming in the Australian Open quarter-final when Zverev was paired against Alcaraz.
The German was outstanding throughout, however, and came through in four sets, winning 6-1, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 to set up a match with Daniel Medvedev.
After the match, Zverev was quizzed on how he was feeling and it appears he’s being plagued with a bit of a gruesome injury.
He explained to Eurosport: “I have a lot of blood under my toenails so that is quite painful. I take it out every single match but when you play and run a lot they come back.
“We just have to retape it. But I would rather feel the way I am feeling right now with a bit of pain and be in the semi-finals than be at home watching this tournament.”
Zverev can now take confidence into last-four clash
In theory, the player who knocked out Great Britain player Cameron Norrie can really take some confidence into his last four match.
Although Medvedev is a quality player, it’s fair to say that he’s probably not as athletic as Alcaraz out on the court.
Zverev will seriously fancy his chances of reaching the final now and in reaching the semis he’s equalled his best run at the Australian Open.
The world number 6 is desperately craving a first Grand Slam and if he can squeeze past Medvedev he will face Novak Djokovic or Jannik Sinner on Sunday.
An injury of the nature that Zverev has described isn’t ideal but he will hope to rest tomorrow and then be raring to go when Friday comes around.
