Paula Badosa is looking extremely good at the US Open and she’s now reached the quarter-final for the very first time.

The Spaniard booked a place in the last eight of the competition by overcoming Wang Yafan in emphatic fashion.

Badosa won 6-1, 6-2 to set up a date with either Coco Gauff or Emma Navarro on Tuesday at Flushing Meadows.

The 26-year-old is bidding to win a Grand Slam for the very first time and if she can get through another round in New York, it will become her best run ever.

Badosa has won four career titles and now she will feel as though she is playing well enough to win a Grand Slam in the next week.

Paula Badosa shares who she would rather face next at the US Open

Whoever prevails between Gauff and Navarro will be facing a tough match against a Badosa who is bang in form.

Shortly after her latest win, she was quizzed on who she would rather face out of Gauff and Navarro and was quick to praise both players.

Badosa said on court: “I’m really good friends with both of them. I love them both. I love how they play. Coco is amazing. She’s so inspiring at such a young age and so mature. I love watching her. She’s a champion and we always have battles.

“It would be a great match against her on Arthur Ashe, where I never played. It would be an amazing experience. Emma, she’s so humble and an amazing talent.

“It’s gonna be another battle. We had one in Rome already. I’m looking forward to either and I hope today than have a good match and the best one wins. But I really love them both.”

Badosa in formidable form at just the right time

It would be truly remarkable if Badosa could come through against Gauff or Navarro and set up a last-four place.

It would be the first time she’s reached that stage of a major event and there has been proof of late that she can get things right.

Both Gauff and Navarro would provide stern tests for Badosa and the game would give her an idea of where her game is at.

Badosa has all of the shots to prevail in a Grand Slam and it will be fascinating to see how far she goes at the US Open this time around.

She won’t have long to wait to find out who is next up in the quarter-final with Gauff and Navarro facing off later tonight.
