Jannik Sinner has, along with Carlos Alcaraz, dominated the ATP Tour over the last few years.
He and the Spaniard have split the last nine major titles between them, with Sinner claiming two Australian Opens since 2024, as well as a US Open crown and a Wimbledon championship.
With four Grand Slams to his name at 24 years of age, the Italian is well on his way to matching the tallies of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Will Jannik Sinner win the French Open?
Sinner is likened to many tennis legends, however the comparison he receives the most is to Djokovic.
Though the two are very similar, Serena Williams’ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, thinks he’s more like Nadal.

Patrick Mouratoglou discusses Jannik Sinner and Rafael Nadal
In a post on Instagram, Mouratoglou said: “Everybody compares Jannik [Sinner] with Novak Djokovic, for reasons that are quite obvious, the style of game, but nobody compares him with someone I think he should be compared to in terms of mindset. It’s Rafael Nadal.
“They have something in common that is incredible and so rare. It’s their ability to play every single shot from the 1st of January to the 31st of December with 100% commitment, focus, intensity. So rare.
“And that explains why he won 10 sets in a row at the ATP Finals, plus 37 in a row in Masters 1000, Rolex Paris Masters, ATP Finals, Indian Wells, Miami, and one match at Monte Carlo, which is 47 sets in a row without dropping one set.
Who is the better hard court player – Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner?
“That’s completely crazy. And if you compare with Alcaraz, Alcaraz doesn’t have the same mindset. Sinner, full, every single shot. Alcaraz, fun. He has to have fun on the court. When he has fun on the court, unbelievable.
“It’s very interesting to have the two players that are at the top of the game that have such a different mindset, completely opposite. Someone 100% serious, someone 100% fun.”

Patrick Mouratoglou reacts to Joao Fonseca’s comment about Jannik Sinner
Recently, teenage star Joao Fonseca claimed that Sinner played like a robot, having faced him for the first time at the Indian Wells Open.
The comment from Fonseca received criticism from many, with some saying it was disrespectful.
Reacting to Fonseca’s words, Mouratoglou said: “That’s true that the word robot used by Fonseca can be taken in a negative way.
“I don’t think he had any intention to be negative. More trying to describe that what Sinner is achieving is completely insane. He’s basically saying only a machine can do something like this, not a human. It’s crazy.”
Sinner defeated Fonseca in straight sets in their first career clash, winning 7-6, 7-6.
