Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will play one another in a Grand Slam final for the second time this season.

It was a good day for the youngsters on Centre Court, as both Alcaraz and Sinner emerged victorious.

In the first semifinal of the day, Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 [8-6], producing a miraculous comeback from 4-6 in the fourth set tiebreak to get over the line.

Not to be outshone, Sinner made light work of Novak Djokovic in the second semifinal, taking down the seven-time champion in straight sets.

Previewing the 2025 Wimbledon final, former champion Pat Cash has stated what he thinks will decide the winner.

Pat Cash thinks the Wimbledon final will be decided by ‘a few points’

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after Sinner’s win over Djokovic, Cash looked ahead to Sunday’s final.

“They have really separated themselves from the rest of the field. This is the final that everybody wanted to see, was hoping to see, with both players in good form. Good luck predicting that one,” he said.

“For Jannik [Sinner] to be in his first final, obviously, Carlos [Alcaraz] has won it twice in a row, he’d have to have an edge playing big matches on grass. But they both hit the ball so well.”

Highlighting the talents of both players, Cash suggested what will decide the outcome of the match.

“The way Sinner moves around the court, from a skinny kid whose legs were going everywhere, to the player he is now, powering out of the corners, with his outside foot stopping and then getting back so quickly, his long arms and reach,” he said.

“He’s going to be really tough to beat; it’s going to be really tough for Carlos to hit through him.

“Carlos has got all of the tricks in the bag.

“It’s going to go down to a few points here and there, whoever performs well in the big situation, but what a final to look forward to.”

Of their 12 previous meetings, seven have required a deciding set, as there has been very little to separate Sinner and Alcaraz so far.

Only time will tell if ‘Alcaraz/Sinner 13’ will go the distance, but you certainly wouldn’t want to bet against it.

Laura Robson says Jannik Sinner is playing like he’s still on clay

Also speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after Sinner’s semifinal win, former British star Laura Robson commented on Sinner’s ability to slide on grass.

“I can’t really put into words how he is able to slide on this surface, it almost still looks like a clay court that he’s on,” she said.

“In many ways, he’s just taken the same approach that he uses on other surfaces and applied it to this particular court.

“It’s probably because he’s so much stronger than he was five years ago, his core is so much stronger, physically, this year he’s put on a couple of kilograms of pure muscle.

“It means that he doesn’t have to actually change much in his game, he’s almost playing the exact same way on a grass court as he does on any other surface, and clearly it’s working.”

Robson was also keen to note what Sinner keeps doing in his post-match interviews, which she really likes.

“I always enjoy a Jannik Sinner interview, he gets to about the third question and then he almost ends it for you,” she said.

“He’s like, thank you very much, I’ll see you next time.”

Sinner will no doubt hope he conducts his next post-match interview with the Wimbledon trophy in his hands, as he prepares to take on Alcaraz in the final on Sunday, July 13.
