Ons Jabeur highlighted the changes she made to her game on grass as she pursues a first Wimbedon title.
The Tunisian is determined to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish at Wimbledon after finishing as the runner-up for the past two years.
She loves the tradition and prestige of the grass court Grand Slam and is figuring out how to go one step further and achieve her dream of becoming a major winner.
Though she has a game already suited to the slick and low bouncing surface, the 29-year-old is looking to add the final touches to ensure she can join the Wimbledon winner’s circle.
What has Ons Jabeur changed about her game in a bid to win Wimbledon?
Jabeur entered the 2024 Wimbledon Championships following back-to-back quarter-finals appearances at the Nottingham Open and Berlin Championships.
The tenth seed has not enjoyed the best season as he has struggled with a recurring knee injury. But she began to hit her stride at the French Open and now back on the grass, she aims to bring her best at the All-England Club.
Jabeur’s variety and innovative shotmaking works well on grass and following her second round victory over American qualifier Robin Montgomery, she explained which shots she uses to her advantage while on a grass court.
“Sometimes with the grass I think what helps is it’s not a slow surface, and it’s very, very fast. Sometimes the slices can really be annoying for most of the players,” she told reporters.
“I think changing the rhythm, slicing, higher-speed ball could really bother any player, to be honest with you. That’s really an advantage for me. The fact that I know my ball could go faster really helps me also mentally during the match.”

Can Ons Jabeur make it third time lucky at Wimbledon?
Jabeur was in tears and was comforted by the Princess of Wales after losing the Wimbledon final for the second successive year in 2023.
Memories of those defeats haunted the player when she returned to SW19 for the ongoing edition of the tournament.
Jabeur has been very open about how she has dealt with crushing defeats, but she is using it as fuel on her quest to win the Wimbledon title in 2024.
“That’s what I’m hoping for,” Jabeur told BBC Africa regarding winning Wimbledon at the third time of asking. “I will take it point by point, set by set and hopefully match by match.” Jabeur will take on Elina Svitolina in round three at Wimbledon on Saturday.
