Ons Jabeur is deciding whether to seek advice from Andy Roddick about bouncing back from defeats in Grand Slam finals.

The Tunisian is aiming to become the first African-born player to win a major and she has come agonisingly close to achieving that dream on multiple occasions.

She thoroughly enjoys playing on the grass and she is back at Wimbledon ready to fight for the title once again.

However, the tenth seed does not want the memories of previous Grand Slam final defeats derailing her progress this year, which is why she is thinking of speaking to a player who has been in the same position.

What is Ons Jabeur thinking about asking Andy Roddick?

Jabeur began her Wimbledon campaign with a 6-3, 6-1 win Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima on Tuesday.

Ahead of her first match, Jabeur is questioning whether to ask Roddick about how he overcame his three Wimbledon final defeats to Roger Federer in 2004, 2005 and 2009.

“I’ve been actually thinking about Andy Roddick, how he lost it (the Wimbledon final) so many times and didn’t get to win it,” she told Arab News.

“I was meaning to text him and tell him: ‘If you had to change one thing and do it differently, what would you do?’ I’m still hesitating if I should do that or not.”

What is Ons Jabeur’s Grand Slam finals record?

Jabeur has reached three Grand Slam finals in her career so far. The first came at Wimbledon in 2022.

She faced Elena Rybakina and was the favourite to win. But she was overwhelmed by the occasion and the Kazak player claimed her maiden Grand Slam after coming from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Several months later she faced Iga Swiatek in the 2022 US Open final, where the World number one claimed a 6-2, 7-6 win to win her only major away from clay so far.

The following year Jabeur made it back to the Wimbledon final and was up against the unseeded Marketa Vondrousova. Once again the favourite, Jabeur succumbed to a defeat, this time in straight sets.
