Another enthralling ATP Tour season has come to a close, with world number one Jannik Sinner dominating proceedings.
Novak Djokovic isn’t surprised by Sinner’s success, with the latter winning two Grand Slams in 2024 compared to none from the former.
Carlos Alcaraz meanwhile won the other two Grand Slam events this season, with the Spaniard set for a long-term rivalry with the Italian.
Ben Shelton named Sinner, Alcaraz and Djokovic his toughest opponents, with the Serbian set to be eager to ensure he doesn’t fade away from the conversation in 2025.
Djokovic has hired Andy Murray in a bid to get his Grand Slam career back on track, with the veteran chasing a record 25th title.

Alex de Minaur tops 2024 ATP Tour return leaderboard
The trio are set to battle it out for success next time out, but one player who could be in the mix for titles is Alex de Minaur.
The Australian suffered an injury-hit season, but still managed to outrank Sinner, Alcaraz and Djokovic in the ATP Tour’s return rating leaderboard.
World number nine De Minaur sits top of the list with a return rating of 165.6, immediately followed by Alcaraz (162.2), Sinner (158.4) and Djokovic (157.7).
The figures take into consideration the percentage of first and second serve return points won, the percentage of return games won and the percentage of break points converted.
| Rank | Player | Return rating | % 1st serve return points won | % 2nd serve return points won | % return games won | % break points converted |
| 1 | Alex de Minaur | 165.6 | 33.0% | 55.9% | 31.6% | 45.1% |
| 2 | Carlos Alcaraz | 162.2 | 34.4% | 54.3% | 30.8% | 42.7% |
| 3 | Jannik Sinner | 158.4 | 31.7% | 56.1% | 28.3% | 42.3% |
| 4 | Novak Djokovic | 157.7 | 32.6% | 54.7% | 29.0% | 41.4% |
| 5 | Tommy Paul | 157.2 | 33.8% | 52.2% | 28.6% | 42.6% |
What was Alex de Minaur’s record in 2024?
De Minaur was consistent when given the chance to play in 2024, with the Australian ace winning two ATP Tour-level titles.
The 25-year-old won the Libema Open in June, with that success over Sebastian Korda coming after he beat Casper Ruud to triumph at Acapulco in March.
He ends the season with a 47-21 win-loss record, with fine quarter-final runs at the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open.
Currently sitting ninth in the ATP rankings, De Minaur has every chance of climbing the standings in 2025.
An injury-free season may, however, be at the top of his agenda, with a hip problem having given him real trouble for some time.
