There have been some big coaching changes on both the ATP and WTA Tours this year.

Perhaps the biggest of those involved Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, who split last month after six months working together.

Another one of Djokovic’s former coaches Goran Ivanisevic has also been involved in a few significant coaching switches this year.

After coaching Elena Rybakina for just two tournaments, Ivanisevic has now joined Stefanos Tsitsipas for the start of the grass court season.

Now another coaching partnership has split up after an announcement from a former doubles world number one and Tennis Hall of Famer.

Donna Vekic and Pam Shriver part ways after nearly three years working together

World number 22 Donna Vekic has worked with 22-time Grand Slam champion Pam Shriver since October 2022.

Shriver has been one of Vekic’s multiple coaches, and has taken more of a secondary role since the Croatian hired Sascha Bajin at the end of last year.

However, after a difficult year for Shriver, who was forced to evacuate her home in January due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, she has announced that she is stepping down from coaching Vekic.

In an update post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Shriver was full of kind words for Vekic, who she helped win an Olympic silver medal in Paris last year.

“One of the greatest experiences I have had in my 50+ years in tennis has been helping coach @DonnaVekic since October 2022,” said Shriver. “Here in LA, it’s been a challenging year, therefore I need to lean even more into my community & my family’s wellbeing. I am stepping down from Team DV.”

What have Donna Vekic and Pam Shriver achieved together?

Winning an Olympic silver medal is not the only big achievement that Shriver helped Vekic achieve during their near three year tenure together.

Vekic also won her fourth career title at the Monterrey Open in 2023, as well as reaching three other WTA Tour finals.

Another standout moment for the 28-year-old occurred last year, when Vekic reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time and was just two points from her first major final.

All of these achievements enabled Vekic to reach her career-high ranking of world number 17 earlier this year.

It has been more of a struggle for Vekic in 2025, having only won 8 of her 23 matches.

Vekic has only won one of her last five matches, and has more than 50% of her ranking points (1,165) to defend over the coming weeks up to Wimbledon.
