Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon campaign came to an end on Friday, after he lost to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
Sinner won in straight sets against Djokovic, who looked as if age had finally caught up to him, as he struggled to contest the world number one on Centre Court.
The Serb looked to be finally gaining some momentum in the third set, and was on the brink of a double break, but ultimately the Italian won comfortably to reach his first final at the All England Club.
Djokovic‘s pursuit of Grand Slam title number 25 will have to wait until the US Open later this summer, where he is a four-time champion.
A day after his defeat to Sinner at Wimbledon, the 38-year-old took to social media to send a message to his conqueror.

Novak Djokovic’s message to Jannik Sinner after Wimbledon exit
Djokovic said on Instagram: “I want to congratulate @janniksin on a great performance.”
“It’s been very special being back at SW19, sharing the buzz, spending time with Londoners and having my family with me.
“Thank you to Wimbledon, the tournament of dreams. And to the fans, your support this year and every year means everything.
“You have my heart. See you soon.”
Novak Djokovic’s fifth straight defeat to Jannik Sinner
Djokovic’s defeat to Sinner marks his fifth consecutive loss in their rivalry, having not won against him in almost two years.
His last win in their head-to-head came at the ATP Finals in 2023, where he won the year-end trophy for the seventh time.
Since then, Sinner has emerged victorious in their clashes at the Davis Cup in 2023, the Australian Open and Shanghai Masters in 2024, and won against him at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon this year.
The last time Djokovic won over five sets against the 23-year-old was in the semi-final of the Wimbledon championships in 2023.
