Novak Djokovic makes a big prediction for the future of Carlos Alcaraz.

The 21-year-old has made an excellent start to his tennis career, and he already sits on four Grand Slam titles.

Carlos Alcaraz possesses such a complete game for one so young and the Spaniard is on the hunt for more titles and accolades.

Given all the talent he possesses and what he has already achieved in the game, Djokovic, one of Alcaraz’s biggest rivals, thinks he is set to achieve so much more.

What prediction does Novak Djokovic have for Carlos Alcaraz?

Djokovic played in the same generation as Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, and the trio battled one another for tennis supremacy during the 2000s and 2010s.

Now with two members of the icon group now retired, Djokovic is battling the new generation led by players such as Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz is set to turn 22 this year and he already has 18 titles to his name, four of which are Grand Slam titles. Djokovic urged fans to remember how young Alcaraz still is and he predicted how long he thinks he will keep playing tennis.

“There was domination from Rafa on clay or Roger on grass, me on hard courts would win three or four years in a row Indian Wells and Miami back to back,” he said.

“But that also came for me personally that level of dominant tennis and achievements when I was 23 or 24 years old and then after that.

“So between 23 and 33 was when it was really happening. Alcaraz is still not 23. So we have to remember that his age and what he has done for age is also not normal.

“I am sure that we will see a lot of him on the big stage with trophies in the future, 10 years or 15 years, for as long as he is playing.”

Novak Djokovic says why he is continuing to play tennis

Now into his late thirties and the twilight phase of his career, Djokovic’s passion for tennis still burns bright.

He has not won a Grand Slam since 2023 and his last title anywhere came at the 2024 Olympics. Now the World number five, it is getting tougher for Djokovic.

But he is eager to keep testing himself against the younger generation and he is still a threat for every tournament he enters, and the challenge of seeing him battle his newer rivals is an intriguing prospect for fans.

“The last 20 years was dominated mostly by the four of us and obviously when the three of my biggest rivals retired, you can feel there is a shift not only in terms of the generations of players that come,” Djokovic added.

“Now all of a sudden, the main focus is on them but it takes a little bit of time for people to accept the fact that Roger, Rafa and Murray are not playing and I guess one day myself but I am still trying to stay there and represent the older guys.

“And hopefully that brings a positive effect to the tournaments and to the Tour itself. That’s one of the reasons why I keep on playing, because I feel like it also helps tennis still thrive on the attention and crowds coming in and watching tournaments and getting interested.”
