Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have dominated men’s tennis for two years now, collecting the last eight available Grand Slam titles.
The pair are undoubtedly the two best players alive, and currently maintain a 5,000+ point gap to the world number three, Alexander Zverev.
Just as they did in 2024, Sinner and Alcaraz won two Grand Slams each in 2025, as the Italian triumphed in Melbourne and London, and the Spaniard in Paris and New York.

Their rivalry intensified with three major final meetings, the first of which may well go down as one of the greatest of all time (2025 French Open final).
Ahead of his participation in this week’s Hellenic Championship, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic weighed in with his thoughts on Sinner and Alcaraz’s rivalry.
Novak Djokovic says tennis ‘needed’ Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s rivalry
The Serbian legend first commented on the differences between his rivalries with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, and Sinner and Alcaraz.
“Very different, because I’ve spent most of my career with my two greatest rivals, [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer,” said Djokovic.
“Of course, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are also my rivals at the moment, but they are so young, and I have 15 years of difference on the tour with them.
“Our rivalry is a few years old, and I’ve had 20 years of rivalry with the other guys.
“It’s not really comparable.”
Djokovic proceeded to share his thoughts on the rivalry between the world number one and two.
“It’s great that there is a new big rivalry in our sport, between Sinner and Alcaraz,” he said

“They’ve been playing some incredible matches in the last 18 months, and hopefully they can keep going because that’s what our sport needs.”
Sinner and Alcaraz have now met 15 times in total, as the Spaniard leads their head-to-head, 10-5.

If they keep going at this rate, their rivalry could rank as one of the greatest of all time.
Speaking of legendary rivalries… Djokovic wished he could go back in time to witness two icons of the sport face off in the 1970s.
Novak Djokovic wishes he could have watched Bjorn Borg play John McEnroe
Asked to pick a match from history he’d like to have been a part of, there was only one answer for Djokovic.
“Probably one of the epic Borg/McEnroe matches that I’d love to witness from the stands,” he said.
“Or, I would love to have had an opportunity to play with a wooden racket and compete and see the difference.
“I would probably struggle a lot to hit heavy topspins with that, but I love the history of our game, so it’s amazing to see how the game has evolved in terms of technology and everything in the last 50 years.

“I would have loved to have witnessed that era.”
McEnroe and Borg played 22 times between November 1978 and September 1981.
Their rivalry was described as ‘fire and ice’, given the contrasting personalities of the two players.
Alcaraz and Sinner aren’t quite the polar opposites that Borg and McEnroe were, but it will be interesting to see how their rivalry develops over the coming years.
The pair could potentially meet at this year’s ATP Finals, which begins on Sunday, November 9.
