Novak Djokovic has struggled to keep up with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the Grand Slam events recently.

Since beating Alcaraz in Australia, Djokovic hasn’t picked up a win over the world number one or two.

At the French Open, Djokovic lost to Sinner in the semifinals, 4-6, 5-7, 6-7, and suffered the same fate at Wimbledon.

Again, Djokovic met Sinner with a place in the final up for grabs, but lost in straight sets.

Then, in New York, Djokovic lost to Alcaraz, 4-6, 6-7, 2-6, as he came up short in the US Open semifinals.

Having now gone over two years without adding to his Grand Slam tally, Djokovic has shared whether he still believes he can win a record-extending 25th major before he retires from tennis.

Novak Djokovic admits he has doubts over winning another Grand Slam

During an interview with Piers Morgan, Djokovic shared his thoughts on the emergence of Alcaraz and Sinner.

“It’s not easy for me to accept, being the dominant player for most of my career, 20 years, and now being dominated, particularly by [Carlos] Alcaraz and [Jannik] Sinner,” he said.

“I knew it was going to happen eventually, that guys would come and start to dominate, and someone would form a new rivalry.

“I think it’s a natural progression and evolution of sport in general. Sinner and Alcaraz, I think they are great for our sport, their rivalry, their matches… They played one of the most epic matches of all time in the finals of Roland Garros this year, which was incredible to watch.”

The Serb proceeded to suggest whether he still thinks he can win another Grand Slam while competing against Sinner and Alcaraz.

“I’m aware of what’s happening. My best level, their best level now, they’re better. That’s the reality,” said Djokovic.

“I do have more doubts that I can win Slams, particularly against these two guys.”

Djokovic did, however, send a defiant message to his rivals heading into 2026 and beyond.

“But at the same time, I know that while I am still active, and when I enter the court, I don’t care who is across the net, I always believe I’m better, and I believe that I deserve to win, and I’m going to do everything I can to win,” he said.

“I’m still nurturing a winner’s mentality.”

Winner’s mentality or not, Djokovic will need to find a way to turn the tide of his rivalries with Alcaraz and Sinner if he wants to add another Grand Slam title to his collection…

Losing his last three matches against the pair, Djokovic has some real issues to address during the off-season.

Only time will tell if he will fare better against Alcaraz and Sinner in the new year, but you certainly wouldn’t want to bet against him.

The trio could potentially face off at the 2026 Australian Open, which begins on Monday, January 12.
