At 38 years of age, Novak Djokovic is still going strong on the ATP Tour.

To kick-start his 2026 season, Djokovic reached the final of the Australian Open, dethroning Jannik Sinner en route.

The Serb ultimately fell in the final to Carlos Alcaraz, who became the youngest player ever to complete the Career Grand Slam.

Djokovic, who turns 39 in May, dropped a retirement hint in his runner-up speech at Melbourne Park, and later revealed he was not sure if he would ever enter the Australian Open again.

He had previously stated his desire to keep playing until the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, however, which he was asked about recently.

“We expected a spectacle, and we saw it. It was my first time at a Winter Olympics opening ceremony, and it was a great feeling. I’m very happy to have had this experience with my family.”

Novak Djokovic’s results at the Olympic Games over the years

Djokovic’s first run at the Olympic Games came back in 2008 in Beijing, where he claimed a bronze medal after losing to longtime rival Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.

At the 2012 London Games, he made it to the semifinals once again, but lost in the bronze medal match to Juan Martin Del Potro.

In 2016, Djokovic recorded his worst run at the Olympics, falling to Del Potro in the first round with a straight-sets defeat.

He finished fourth in 2021, but in 2024, he finally won gold for Serbia, beating Alcaraz in the final to achieve the elusive feat.
