Novak Djokovic is well and truly up and running at the Australian Open, where he now boasts 100 match wins.

Djokovic defeated Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 in his first round match to hit the triple-figure mark at the Australian Open.

He is only the second man in the Open Era to achieve the feat, following in the footsteps of his fellow ATP legend Roger Federer, who has 102.

Djokovic is, however, the first player to achieve such success across three different Grand Slam tournaments.

Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?

Along with his 100 wins at the Australian Open, he has 101 wins at the French Open and 102 wins at Wimbledon.

Reacting to his latest achievement in Melbourne, Djokovic wrote on his Instagram: “A century of wins at this tournament of dreams.”

The 10-time champion of the hard-court event will now take on Italian qualifier Francesco Maestrelli in the second round.

Rennae Stubbs expects Novak Djokovic statue at the Australian Open

Djokovic only just hit the same figure in another area, last season claiming his 100th ATP Tour title in Geneva.

He was celebrating his 38th birthday at the time of the success, which he added to by lifting the trophy in Athens later in 2025.

But right now he is chasing more Grand Slam glory, with the Serbian icon eyeing a record-extending 11th Australian Open title.

Sharing her thoughts on the veteran before he started his event, former player Rennae Stubbs said on her podcast: “He’s only won this title, how many times? 10 times? And he just won an exhibition match against Frances Tiafoe.

“He doesn’t even have any grey hairs yet. I mean, what is going on? This guy, it’s like Benjamin Button. He just ages in reverse.

“But it’ll be nice to see Novak. He’s going to have unbelievable support here in Melbourne, being such a champion here.

“I’m waiting for them to do a statue of him on the grounds here somewhere, like they did with Rafael Nadal. But do you think this is his last Australian Open?”

Replying, former player Andrea Petkovic said: “I don’t know. I’m looking at his draw right now, and I honestly don’t see anybody beating him before the semifinals.

“I think he will make the semifinals, he has a basically 15-0 head-to-head against [Taylor] Fritz, he has a 6-0 against [Lorenzo] Musetti.

“The only player he’s lost to really, is [Jakub] Mensik. He lost to him at the Miami Open final last year, 7-6, 7-6, it was very humid, very hot.

“But Mensik has to get to the fourth round to be able to play Djokovic, and the first round best-of-five is a completely different beast. I see him in the semis again, to be honest.”

Whether or not Djokovic is honored at the Australian Open remains to be seen, but it is arguably the least he deserves given his efforts in Melbourne.

And even with his age, the 38-year-old simply cannot be ruled out of another lengthy run, having remarkably reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams in 2025.
