Novak Djokovic previewed a first round tie at Roland Garros that he is very ‘excited’ to see.
In what is surely the biggest matchup of the opening round, 15-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal has been drawn to face Alexander Zverev.
The German is fresh off winning his second Italian Open title and as a result, climbed to fourth the world rankings on Monday.
With Nadal far from his best and fitness issues still looming, many may claim Zverev to be the favourite, but the Spaniard can never be ruled out, especially at Roland Garros.

Many of those within the tennis world are discussing who will prevail when Nadal takes on Zverev to begin their Roland Garros campaigns.
One of the biggest names to do this is Djokovic, who will begin his title defence against Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
“I’m excited to see that match, it will be a very interesting match,” Djokovic said as reported by Punto de Break. “Zverev is in great shape, having won in Rome.
“On the court at Roland Garros, he is not the same Rafa that we are used to. It’s Roland Garros, so we’ll see what happens.”
What is Novak Djokovic’s French Open draw?
As mentioned above Djokovic will commence the 2024 French Open against home favourite Herbert before taking on either Roberto Carballés Baena or Constant Lestienne in the second round.
A showdown with old rival Gael Monfils, Lorenzo Musetti or Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild could take place in round three, before a possible fourth round showdown against Argentine Francisco Cerundolo or Italian Open semi-finalist Tommy Paul.
Ruud or Fritz are likely quarter-final opponents while Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Karen Khachanov, or Nadal could stand in between Djokovic and another Roland Garros final.
Should he reach the final, it could be Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner waiting to try and win their first French Open title.
