Novak Djokovic will now have the chance to claim a 25th Grand Slam title after booking his place in the Australian Open final.
Djokovic battled past Jannik Sinner in a thrilling five-set semifinal at Melbourne Park, snapping a five-match losing streak against the Italian.
Where does that performance rank out of Novak Djokovic’s best of all time?
The Serb will now appear in an 11th Australian Open final, where he will take on world number one Carlos Alcaraz.
Like Djokovic, Alcaraz is also chasing history Down Under, as he bids to become the youngest player in the Open Era to complete the Career Grand Slam.
With his triumph over Sinner, the 38-year-old has just matched a record held by his former rival, Rafael Nadal.

Novak Djokovic makes history at the Australian Open
Djokovic has dominated at the Australian Open over the years, with 10 of his 24 major crowns being hoisted at the first Grand Slam of the year.
By beating Sinner, ranked second in the world, Djokovic is now the player with the joint-most top 10 wins at a single Grand Slam event since the ATP rankings were published in 1973, with 20 victories.
The only player with as many top ten wins at a single major is Nadal, who secured 20 at Roland Garros during his legendary career.
Who will win the Australian Open men’s singles final?
Djokovic’s most recent Australian Open title was clinched in 2023, when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.
He has completed a three-peat twice at the tournament, doing so from 2011 to 2013, as well as from 2019 to 2021.

Novak Djokovic’s last meeting with Carlos Alcaraz in a major final
Djokovic is now through to his first Grand Slam final since Wimbledon in 2024.
At the All England Club that year, Djokovic met the man who he is set to face in this year’s Australian Open final; Alcaraz.
The match between the two stars at Wimbledon that day was fairly one-sided, with Alcaraz emerging victorious in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6.

Since then, Djokovic and Alcaraz have met twice at Grand Slam events, with the first of the two bouts coming at last year’s edition of the Australian Open.
Djokovic came back from a set down to beat Alcaraz in the quarterfinals in Melbourne last season, but the Spaniard earned revenge by overcoming him in the semifinals of the US Open later on in the season.
