Novak Djokovic has finally dropped out of the ATP Top three after a record 756 weeks following his disappointing US Open run.
Djokovic said he wasn’t close to his best after a shock third round US Open exit, where he lost to 28th seed Alexei Popyrin.
The Australian blew the 2024 Olympic gold medallist away at Arthur Ashe Stadium, beating the defending champion 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
But the Serbian hasn’t taken the exit badly, with Djokovic congratulating Jannik Sinner on his US Open victory over Taylor Fritz.
Sinner now boasts two Grand Slam titles after winning the Australian Open earlier this year, with Djokovic still very top of the pile with 24.

Phenomenal Novak Djokovic ATP Tour record still intact
The Serbian has, however, falling out of the top three in the world rankings, sliding to fourth place behind Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz.
But as per Eurosport, he has a stunning record still intact, with Djokovic boasting a winning head-to-head record against every player in the new top 20.
Jack Draper has risen to 20th place following his run to the US Open semi-finals, with the Briton one of many to be on the receiving end of Djokovic’s ruthlessness.
Why Novak Djokovic remains the player to beat on the ATP Tour
Djokovic may not have had the best of summers, having been forced to withdraw from the French Open and losing the Wimbledon final.
But his rapid recovery from knee surgery proved his appetitie for success has remained, with Djokovic adding Olympic gold to his honours list not long after his knee operation.
His phenomenal head-to-head record over the world’s leading players meanwhile shows just how brilliant his career has been, especially in recent times.
And there are no signs of his career coming to a close anytime soon, unlike the recently retired Andy Murray and the soon-to-retire Rafael Nadal.
Those within the ATP top 20 will now be eager to set the record straight with Djokovic, with several players on the list yet to taste success against the Serbian legend.
