Novak Djokovic and Marin Cilic react to Ivo Karlovic retirement

Well, it would appear as though the Croatian player was very popular on the tour and he’s received several reactions.

Karlovic is second on the all-time list of aces with 13,728, with John Isner the only player to serve more during his career.

After announcing his retirement, Djokovic and Cilic took to Instagram to post their messages to the player.

Djokovic said: “Dr Ivo! Thank you for the most genuine service advice I ever received. Kudos on your career. You can be very proud of what you’ve accomplished.”

Next up was his compatriot Cilic and he also had some kind words for the player.

He posted: “Dottore – huge congratulations on all that you have achieved, you can be proud of everything. Through the thorns to the stars in the full sense of the word. There is only one Dr Ivo – Ace King! Best of luck for all that follows and enjoy everything.”

Karlovic can be proud of great career

Okay, so the Croatian didn’t have a great career in terms of doing well at the Grand Slam events.

He did, however, win a Davis Cup for his country and won eight titles on the ATP Tour which shouldn’t be frowned upon.

His 6ft 11inch frame and ability to power down ace after ace made him a very entertaining player to watch.

These comments from Djokovic and Cilic showcase that he was a popular player in the locker room and Karlovic should indeed be very proud of his career.
