Novak Djokovic remarkably finds himself in yet another Wimbledon final, where he will take on Carlos Alcaraz.

The encounter represents a rematch of the 2023 final, which the Spaniard won 1-6, 7-6(8-6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

Alcaraz denied Djokovic an eighth Wimbledon title on Centre Court, with the Serbian therefore still chasing Roger Federer’s record.

The Swiss icon won the competition eight times during his stunning career, with that solo record now under real threat.

Djokovic has now reached his sixth consecutive Wimbledon final, with that figure again just one behind Federer, as per OptaAce.

Novak Djokovic and Lorenzo Musetti make Wimbledon history

But the world number two was just involved in a record-breaking match against Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals.

As per the official Wimbledon X account, the 14 year 285 age gap between the two was the largest in a Wimbledon men’s singles semi-final in the Open Era.

Veteran Djokovic played the match aged 37 years 53 days, with his Italian opponent aged 22 years 133 days.

Lorenzo Musetti can hold his head high after his Wimbledon exit

Musetti can be extremely proud of his efforts at the All England Club, with the youngster enjoying a superb run on the iconic grass courts.

His five-set thriller with Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final will live long in his memory, but the meeting with Djokovic was simply just one step too far.

The Serbian represents a whole other level at Wimbledon, with John McEnroe having given Musetti just a 10% chance of beating Djokovc before the match.

Still, the 22-year-old certainly gave it a good go on Centre Court, even if his opponent eventually won in straight sets.

The victor is now looking for revenge against the defending champion, with Djokovic expecting a ‘huge battle’ against Alcaraz.
