Amanda Anisimova was on the end of a heavy defeat in the Wimbledon final to Iga Swiatek.

Anisimova reached the Wimbledon final for the first time after beating the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Linda Noskova.

It has been part of a breakout season for the American, with Anisimova showcasing her potential in 2025.

However, it was not meant to be for Anisimova in the Wimbledon final, with former runner-up Nick Kyrgios now reacting to the match.

Nick Kyrgios tells Amanda Anisimova how she should feel after Wimbledon final defeat

Swiatek beat Anisimova, 6-0 6-0, in just under an hour on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

This is just the second time in the Open Era that a Grand Slam final has seen a player lose without winning a single game.

Kyrgios, who has played doubles with Anisimova before, told the world number 12 to try and take some perspective on how far she has come over the past 12 months.

“I think at this point in time it’s about perspective,” Kyrgios said on TNT Sports. “Where she was a year ago, losing in qualifying and then having a turnaround and making a Wimbledon final. That’s pretty insane in itself. I am the most fined tennis player in history and I am not proud of that so I have to carry some crazy stats as well.

“We are all proud to see how far she has come in the last couple of years. Only a few hundred people ever have been on the court ever in that final, so props to her. She will be back.”

Kyrgios continued this sentiment on social media, where he sent another message to Anisimova.

The Australian wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Amanda!!! Slam finalist!!! Head up (praying hands and love heart emojis).”

Rennae Stubbs reacts to Amanda Anisimova’s Wimbledon final performance

There has been a huge outpouring of support for Anisimova, including from six-time Grand Slam doubles champion Rennae Stubbs.

In a post on X, Stubbs admitted how badly she felt for Anisimova who she could tell was struggling with nerves.

“Feel so badly for her,” wrote Stubbs. “No one knows that feeling, 1st major final. Obviously nervous, playing against someone that’s been there so many times in finals of majors.

“Now it’s all about omg I’m so embarrassed and and and. The mind is going a million miles an hour! Can’t relax.”

Despite the disappointment of losing the Wimbledon final in such fashion, it has still been a breakthrough tournament for Anisimova.

Anisimova will now make her top 10 debut at a new career-high ranking of world number seven.
