Iga Swiatek has won her sixth Grand Slam title after beating Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon final.

Swiatek has hugely improved her grass court game this year, which was previously seen as by far her weakest surface.

There were absolutely no signs of the Pole being uncomfortable on grass in the Wimbledon final, with Swiatek beating Anisimova without losing a game.

It had been a challenging season for Swiatek coming into Wimbledon, but now Nick Kyrgios has made a big prediction for the 24-year-old.

Nick Kyrgios makes claim about Iga Swiatek after she wins Wimbledon

Swiatek had not won a title in over a year, causing her to slip down the rankings as the eighth seed at Wimbledon this year.

This appeared to take the pressure off the former world number one, who just dropped one set en route to winning the Wimbledon title.

When reacting to Swiatek’s victory, former Wimbledon finalist Kyrgios suggested that he now believes she is right at the front of contenders for the US Open.

“For Iga I am more inclined to think what does this do for her game and confidence all year round? Maybe for the Australian Open now,” Kyrgios said on commentary for TNT Sports.

“Maybe she has the confidence to find that dominance at the top of the women’s sport. Right now it’s Coco [Gauff], [Aryna] Sabalenka and Iga and now I put her right at the front for the US Open.”

Swiatek won the US Open back in 2022, and now is just missing the Australian Open title to complete the Career Grand Slam.

Nick Kyrgios says what she finds inspirational about Amanda Anisimova

Despite the nature of her final defeat, it has still been a breakout tournament for Anisimova.

Kyrgios has played doubles with Anisimova before and backed her to bounce back from this heartbreaking defeat.

“The most inspirational thing about that is that she [Anisimova] is only 23 years old,” said Kyrgios. “I was in Grand Slam finals at 28 and she is at the start of her career pretty much.

“She made the semifinals of a Grand Slam at 17 and then the finals at 23, so she is trending in the right direction. But for Amanda she will be here again.”

Anisimova will still be rewarded for her run to the final, as she will now be at a career-high ranking of world number seven.

The American is scheduled to return to the matchcourt at the Washington Open, which begins on Monday, July 21.
