Jannik Sinner is making his return to competitive tennis from a three-month ban this week as he tackles the Italian Open.
Sinner has been backed to win the French Open, with the next Grand Slam of 2025 starting later this month.
But the clay-court season continues with the 2025 Italian Open, where ATP Tour number one Sinner is the top seed.
He takes on the winner of Mariano Navone and Federico Cina in round two of the ATP Masters 1000 event, having been handed a bye in round one.
Many fans have welcomed Sinner back on court during his practice sessions in Rome, with his first match taking place on Friday.

Nick Kyrgios ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Jannik Sinner wins the Italian Open
And his fellow professional Nick Kyrgios, who is not taking part in the tournament, has now shared his take on the Italian’s chances of an immediate return to success.
He believes glory is certainly on the cards, having taken to X to reply to one statement that read: “Jannik Sinner is going to win Rome and the ATP Tour is going to need to take a long hard look at itself.”

Sharing his verdict on Sinner, Kyrgios replied: “Why? He is a generational talent? I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”
What did Nick Kyrgios think of Jannik Sinner’s three-month ban?
Kyrgios labelled Sinner’s ban a ‘sad day for tennis’, with the Australian seemingly unhappy with the length and timing of the suspension.
The Italian was able to compete and incidentally win the Australian Open before his ban, with a timely return also going his way.
Not only does his first competition arrive on home soil at the Italian Open, but he is back well in time for the French Open.
Incidentally, Sinner has managed to retain his spot atop the world rankings despite his absence, with the likes of Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz failing to topple him during that time.
