Nick Kyrgios has endured one of the worst runs of injuries in recent memory.

Having first suffered a knee ailment that ruled him out of the 2023 Australian Open, the surgery that was required saw him sidelined for months.

But, expected to be ready for Roland Garros, a foot injury sustained during an armed robbery then scuppered that dream too.

Hoping to finally go one step further at Wimbledon after his success the year prior, everything seemed fine, until he inexplicably tore a ligament in his wrist during one innocuous practice session in June which ended his season.

It is truly remarkable just how unlucky he has been, but it does seem like he is ready to put that all behind him at last.

Nick Kyrgios provides Wimbledon update

Speaking on an Instagram Live, Kyrgios has been answering the burning questions that many fans have posed.

After all, despite revealing earlier this month that he would be returning to the court for a spot of hitting practice, we have otherwise heard little from the 2022 Wimbledon finalist regarding his comeback.

It has been a long and arduous process, but one which he admits has given him time to pursue other passion projects outside of the sport, like his interview series titled ‘Good Trouble’.

However, the world wants him back playing tennis, and when one fan asked him about his availability at Wimbledon later his year, he noted: ‘I’m not sure yet man, but I will be there because I’m doing some stuff there.’

We’d all love to see Nick Kyrgios back at Wimbledon

It has been so long since we have seen the affable and emotive Australian on court, with injuries having scuppered what was previously one of the best runs of form of his life.

Having never truly threatened in any of the Grand Slams, 2022 marked a breakthrough year for Kyrgios, who stormed his way to the Wimbledon final, where he came up against a simply unstoppable force.

Beating Novak Djokovic in that final is a feat few have been able to accomplish, and despite snagging the first set to leave centre-court stunned, he could not maintain that level for the time needed.

But, it marked a promising push from the 29-year-old, who would follow that tournament up with a solid quarter-final showing in the US Open.

Inexplicably, that was to be his most recent appearance in a Grand Slam tournament to date, having gone on to play a single match in 2023 as he suffered through knee, foot and later wrist problems which ruled him out for the season.

The tennis world, love him or loathe him, is surely craving seeing Kyrgios back on court and competing again. If he can make it for Wimbledon then that would be remarkable, but we’d rather him take his time, complete his recovery, and ensure that when he does come back, he is ready for one last big push before calling time on his career.
