Carlos Alcaraz has already enjoyed a legendary tennis career at the age of 22, winning five Grand Slam titles.
It was evident from his very first match on the ATP Tour that Alcaraz was destined for greatness in the sport.
Just two years after Alcaraz made his main draw ATP debut in Rio, he won his first Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open.
Becoming world number one for the first time in 2023, Alcaraz added a second major title (Wimbledon) to his collection.
Three more Grand Slams followed, at the French Open in 2024, Wimbledon in 2024, and at the 2025 French Open, taking his major tally to five.
As the Spaniard continues to impress, Nick Kyrgios has been asked whether he believes Alcaraz can become the greatest tennis player of all time.

During a recent episode of ‘Wimbledon Unfiltered with Nick Kyrgios’, the former Grand Slam finalist was asked whether he believes Alcaraz can become the G.O.A.T. [Greatest of all time].
“He’s already on five Grand Slams and I think he’s 22,” said Kyrgios.
“The thing about the tour at the moment, I don’t think the depth is as good as it used to be, the top ten really were a force when it was [Andy] Murray, [Novak] Djokovic, [Roger] Federer.
“But now, I really don’t see anyone else but [Jannik] Sinner or [Carlos] Alcaraz winning Grand Slams.”
Kyrgios proceeded to comment on the rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner, in which one player appears to have the upper hand.
“Alcaraz has now won five in a row against Sinner, which is huge; those head-to-head battles are massive,” he said.
“I could see Alcaraz getting to 15 or 20 Slams for sure, if he keeps at this pace.
“Who’s going to stop him at this point? At this point in time, I can’t really say anyone.”
Alcaraz has won his last five matches against Sinner and is unbeaten against the Italian since the beginning of the 2024 season.

As the pair have shared the previous six Grand Slams amongst themselves, such an impressive head-to-head record indicates further major success could be on the cards for Alcaraz.
If Alcaraz and Sinner continue to meet in Grand Slam finals, as they did in Paris a few months ago, the 22-year-old would be a safe bet to pick up more titles.

Only time will tell if Alcaraz can add to his major tally in 2025, but it will certainly be something to look out for.
How many Grand Slams will Carlos Alcaraz need to win to become the G.O.A.T.?
When discussing the greatest tennis players of all time, it’s tough to ignore the Grand Slam count, arguably the most relevant measure.
In the history of the men’s game, no player has won more Grand Slams than Novak Djokovic, who currently holds the record, with 24.
Assuming Djokovic doesn’t add to his tally (which is a dangerous assumption to make), Alcaraz would likely need to reach 25 to be considered greater than the legendary Serb.
To reach that target, Alcaraz will need to win another 20 Slams, a tally just three players, Roger Federer (20), Rafael Nadal (22), and Djokovic (24) have achieved in the Open Era.
It’ll certainly be a mountain to climb, but Alcaraz will no doubt be up for the challenge.
