It has been a while since Nick Kyrgios last made an appearance in singles on the ATP Tour, having been sidelined from the game due to injury.
Kyrgios returned to action at the Washington Open in July, where he played alongside Gael Monfils in doubles; his first professional match since March.
He crashed out in the opening round of the tournament with Monfils after losing in straight sets, and did not feature at the Canadian Open or the Cincinnati Open.
Now, ahead of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year, Kyrgios has made his decision on whether or not he will play at the US Open in singles.

Nick Kyrgios’ decision on playing singles at the US Open this year
The Australian has competed at just one Grand Slam this year, bowing out of the Australian Open in the first round.
He missed Roland Garros and withdrew from Wimbledon as he continued to recover from ongoing injury issues.
Though he was predicted to be fully healthy for the hard-court swing, it is now confirmed that he will miss the US Open.
He withdrew from the singles event and will be replaced by a lucky loser from qualifying.
Nick Kyrgios misses out on the US Open for the third straight year
Kyrgios’ withdrawal marks the third consecutive year he has not made an appearance at Flushing Meadows.
His last campaign at the US Open was in 2022, when, after reaching the Wimbledon final earlier that season, he advanced to the quarterfinals in New York.
Prior to 2022, Kyrgios had never made it to the fourth round at the tournament, recording third-round finishes in four separate years.
It is unclear how much longer fans will have to wait for the 30-year-old to make his return to singles competition.
