Nick Kyrgios took some time to discuss Emma Raducanu’s run to the Wimbledon fourth round.

The 21-year-old brought plenty of smiles and joy to the British fans amid the wet and gloomy conditions at the All-England Club in 2024.

For the first time since shocking the world to win the US Open title in 2021, the Bromley local reached the last 16 of a major.

This comes after she returned to the tour at the start of the year following double wrist and ankle surgery.

What did Nick Kyrgios say about Emma Raducanu?

Since her US Open triumph many have been waiting for Raducanu to rediscover that form and contend for the majors again.

But the former British number one struggled with adapting to the rigorous and intense nature of the WTA Tour and suffered multiple injuries.

Numerous coaching changes also did not help her cause, but Raducanu appears to be more settled and Kyrgios thinks the player has done an excellent job over the past few weeks, but stressed the need for her to strike a balance between her tennis and off court commitments.

“I thought she did an amazing job and ran into a qualifier, Lulu Sun, who was playing lights out and nearly beat Donna Vekic in the next round,” the Australian told the BBC.

“I think she is doing an amazing job to get back out there and compete for these grand slams but she has a lot of things outside of tennis which require her commitments and brand deals, so she has to be able to balance that, and I think she is doing a pretty good job.”

Emma Raducanu enjoys solid return to grass court tennis in 2024

Raducanu was relishing the opportunity to play on grass again for the first time since 2022.

She even skipped the French Open qualifiers to allow herself more time to prepare to play in front of her home crowds on the slick and low bouncing surface.

It was a decision that paid off as she reached the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open, where she lost a tight match to Katie Boulter.

During a run to the Eastbourne quarter-finals Raducanu recorded her first win over a top 10 player by saving a match point to defeat Jessica Pegula.

She entered Wimbledon with confidence and registered three impressive wins over lucky loser Renata Zarazúa, Elise Mertens and ninth seed Maria Sakkari.

Though she was beaten by qualifier Lulu Sun, Raducanu has plenty to build on heading into the US Open summer hard court swing.
