Nick Kyrgios has delivered a pretty honest response when quizzed on whether Rafael Nadal can dominate after making a return to tennis.
The Spaniard is into the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open following a three-set victory over Pedro Cachin yesterday.
It’s full steam ahead for Nadal as he looks to prepare in the best possible fashion for another tilt at French Open glory.
The 37-year-old is coming towards the end of his career and the last few years have been blighted by injury problems.
It’s a case of so far, so good, this time around, however, and he looked in good health during yesterday’s match.
Yesterday, Kyrgios did a Q&A on Instagram and one fan quizzed him on Nadal and whether he could still dominate the sport.

Nick Kyrgios delivers future on Rafael Nadal future
Well, this is the question that everyone is asking really and it’s whether or not Nadal can still win the big ones.
Nadal hasn’t won a Grand Slam since 2022 when he won both he Australian Open and the French Open.
Now, Kyrgios has been quizzed over whether or not he thinks the Spanish star can still dominate – and he’s delivered an honest answer.
He said on Instagram: “Honestly, probably not bro, but I’m just thankful we have Rafa Nadal around.
“People think that age is not a thing but people get old bro. That’s just how life works. The guy can’t be reigning forever.”
We’re so lucky Rafael Nadal is still playing
It’s always a sight for sore eyes to see Nadal playing – especially when the clay court season comes around.
It will be absolutely fascinating to see what happens in the next few weeks and whether or not Nadal can get a big win or two under his belt.
For Nadal, it’s natural that he will have one eye on Roland Garros and he would dearly love to sail off into the sunset with one more Grand Slam title in his collection.
Kyrgios is undoubtedly right though and there will come a point when father time catches up with Nadal.
However, the hope will be that he can stay fit for the remainder of this year and go out on his own terms without injury dictating that to him.
